BW8008 Frequently Asked Questions

Review the main substrate, surface preparation, cathodic-disbonding, recoating and document questions before specifying or ordering BW8008.

BW8008 is a two-component cathodic-disbonding resistant polyurea metal primer for prepared metal substrates before compatible follow-up coating films.

BW8008 is a primer layer. It should be reviewed as part of a coating system before compatible protective coatings, not as the only exposed metal protection layer.

The technical sheet lists metal structures, stainless steel, aluminum surfaces and low-surface-treatment rusty metal structures. Final use still requires surface preparation and adhesion confirmation.

Metal structures should generally be sand-blasted to Sa2.5 according to ISO8501-1 or GB8923. If blasting is unavailable, clean loose rust and grind the surface to St2 according to the same standards.

The listed cathodic-disbonding resistance is <=15 mm under [1.5v, (65±5)°C, 48 h] laboratory conditions and should be reviewed with the full coating system and service exposure.

The technical sheet lists theoretical coverage of 0.12 kg/m² at 50 micrometers film thickness and a recoating interval of minimum 3 h and maximum 24 h at 20°C.

Buyers can request the latest TDS, SDS, packing information, cathodic-disbonding data and project-specific metal primer guidance before ordering.
